Caring for Your Guitar in Singapore Humidity

Beginner Guide Apr 15, 2026 For Beginner

Singapore sits at 70–90% RH. Here is what that means for your guitar and how to keep it healthy.

The good news

Singapore humidity is mostly fine for guitars. The ideal range for acoustic instruments is 45–55% RH, but 55–70% (typical indoor Singapore) is acceptable for solid and laminate tops. You do not need a humidor.

The three things that actually hurt guitars

  1. Direct sunlight — fades finishes and dries wood unevenly. Keep away from windows.
  2. Air-con blasting directly — sudden dry spikes. Do not put your guitar right under a vent.
  3. Hot cars — interior temperatures above 50 degrees C will warp necks and loosen glue. Never leave a guitar in a parked car.

Daily care

  • Wipe strings with a dry cloth after playing — sweat corrodes strings fast
  • Store in a padded gig bag when not playing (any of our SGB bags work)
  • Keep it upright on a stand, not leaning against a wall

When to worry

If frets feel sharp on the side of the neck, or the guitar suddenly buzzes, humidity may be too low. A cheap humidity pack inside the gig bag fixes this.
